Koichi Yamamoto is a Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), specializing in Printmaking and kite design. His research explores the dynamic qualities of static symmetry in compositions, utilizing printmaking techniques such as intaglio printing to create bisymmetric images for kite designs. He joined UTK after serving at Utah State University (tenured from 2000-2006) and the University of Delaware (2006-2007). Education: MFA, University of Alberta (1999) BFA, Pacific Northwest College of Art (1992) Studies at Bratislava Academy of Art (1994) and Poznañ Academy of Art (1995) Research & Exhibitions: Yamamoto’s work focuses on the intersection of printmaking and kinetic art. His one-person exhibitions include Fondazione Pastificio Cerere (Rome, 2019), Gallery Shoal Creek (Austin, 2018), and Stanislaus State University Gallery (Turlock, 2018). His works are featured in juried competitions such as the Impact 10 Enquestro (Santander, 2018) and ŁODŻ PRINTS International Biennale (2016). Commissioned pieces are displayed at Senayan Square Fairmont Hotel (Jakarta, 2015) and Alghunaim House (Kuwait City, 2011). Lectures & Outreach: Yamamoto has delivered public lectures at institutions including Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (2019), University at Buffalo (2019), and Syracuse University (2016). His work appears in Printmaking Today , a London-based journal.
