Melanie Robyn Wall serves as an Assistant Professor of Printmaking at Arkansas State University within the College of Liberal Arts and Communication. A Canadian American artist with dual educational background from institutions in Canada and the United States, she brings an international perspective to her academic and artistic practice.
Her research focuses on examining the transient state of rental properties to construct visual histories of local townscape. Through prints made from collages of drawings, photo documentation and handmade paper, Wall explores residential living through the remnants of tenants. Her work investigates how temporary neighbors are known through consumer brands, children's toys, and weekly waste patterns, with furniture left on lawns signifying life transitions. Wall's artistic approach incorporates recycled fiber and locally sourced plants in her handmade paper and fabric installations.
Wall's artistic output demonstrates consistent productivity with works spanning from 2019-2024, primarily utilizing silkscreen techniques combined with various media. Her portfolio shows a clear thematic focus on urban landscapes, material culture, and documentation of everyday life through abandoned objects and spaces. Her work has been exhibited in over one hundred exhibitions across multiple continents including the United States, Canada, Germany, Turkey, Portugal, Australia, Italy and Japan.
Professionally, Wall is affiliated with the Mid America Print Council (MAPC) and Southern Graphics Council International (SGCI), having served on the MAPC board from 2022-2024. Prior to joining Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, she held an Associate Professor position in Print at Delta State University in Mississippi.
