David Faber is a Professor of Art and Master Printmaker at Wake Forest University, leading the printmaking program since 1984. He holds a BFA from Northern Illinois University and an MFA from Southern Illinois University, where he was a Teaching Intern and Graduate Fellow. His expertise spans intaglio, lithography, relief printing, monotype, and mixed media techniques.

His research focuses on innovative printmaking techniques including drypoint, engraving, etching, and mezzotint. Notable series include The Pedigree Papers, Friesian Series, and Twenty-four Famous Sires. His works are in prestigious collections like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The National Gallery of Art.
Faber has conducted over 80 international exhibitions and was the first North American artist invited to Ymagos Atelier de Gravuras de Arte in Brazil (1979–1989), producing 67 lithographs. He authored the acclaimed textbook A Guide to Drawing (7th ed., 2007).
His contributions include workshops, manuscript reviews, and collaborations with artists like Roberto Burle Marx. He remains a leading figure in plaster-cast intaglio, a rare medium.
