Farhad Bouzari is a Researcher at the Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDRU), Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, University of British Columbia. His research focuses on porphyry copper deposits, hydrothermal alteration, and exploration techniques in covered terrains. Bouzari holds a Ph.D. in Economic Geology from Queen’s University (2003) and has been a Research Associate at UBC since 2006, following roles as an Assistant Professor at the University of Tehran and an Exploration Geochemist at the Geological Survey of Iran. Education: Ph.D. in Economic Geology, Queen’s University (2003) M.Sc. in Mineral Exploration (MinEx), Queen’s University (1995) B.Sc. in Geology, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (1990) Research Interests: Bouzari specializes in the anatomy and evolution of porphyry copper deposits, particularly distal features and deep mineralization vectoring. He develops new exploration methods for covered terrains, including porphyry indicator minerals (PIMs) and zircon geochemistry. Projects include assessing BC pluton fertility, advanced argillic alteration studies, and exploration frameworks in regions like the Toodoggone district. Articles Overview: His recent work emphasizes porphyry-critical mineral systems, magmatic-hydrothermal linkages, and exploration tools like PIMs. Key studies involve zircon trace element analysis, apatite luminescence, and SWIR-based alteration mapping. Advising & Grants: Bouzari has supervised graduate students (e.g., Irene del Real, Antonio Celis) and led projects funded by Geoscience BC, NICICO, and industry partners.
