Renee Haskew-Layton is an Associate Professor and Biology Program Director at Mercy College's School of Health and Natural Sciences, currently serving as Interim Associate Dean. She leads the HHMI Inclusive Excellence Initiative, NSF STEM Scholars Program, and STEM Ready Summer Research Institute. Her research focuses on astrocyte-mediated neuroprotection against oxidative stress in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, emphasizing glutathione pathways in neuron support. She oversees an undergraduate neuroscience lab and advises academic clubs.
