Dr. James Warnock is a Professor and School Chair at the School of Chemical, Materials, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Georgia. He also serves as Interim Director of the Engineering Education Transformation Institute (EETI). His research spans biomedical engineering, biomanufacturing, medical device innovation, and engineering education. Warnock's leadership focuses on advancing academic-industry collaborations and global instructional partnerships.
Research interests include:
- Biomanufacturing of gene therapies and stem cells
- Bioinspired coatings for medical devices to prevent infection and thrombosis
- Cardiovascular biomechanics and hemodynamics
- Engineering education reform, particularly in diversity initiatives and global competency
His recent publications demonstrate a dual focus: 60% address biomedical innovations (e.g., antimicrobial coatings, cell manufacturing), while 40% explore pedagogical strategies for STEM education. Articles frequently employ in vitro modeling, surface engineering, and educational assessments.
