Robert Slonim is a Visiting Professor at the Economics Discipline Group within the Business School at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He holds a PhD in Economics from Duke University (1995). His research focuses on Experimental and Behavioral Economics, with applications to game theory, public policy, charitable donations, and altruism. He has held roles such as Director of Research at the Prime Minister and Cabinet's Behavioural Economics Team of Australia (2016–2017) and co-founding editor of the Journal of the Economic Science Association (2015–2020). His work examines behavioral interventions in health policy, financial decision-making, and labor markets. Key contributions include studies on blood donation incentives, dishonesty in insurance underwriting, and credit card repayment behavior. He has secured grants from the NSF and ARC, focusing on topics like blood donation markets, corporate social responsibility, and educational vouchers. Slonim’s research bridges theory and practice, with applied projects addressing real-world challenges such as organ donation and financial behavior. His articles analyze behavioral mechanisms in healthcare, finance, and labor markets, emphasizing policy relevance. He advises government bodies like the ACCC and actively contributes to academic editing roles, promoting methodological rigor in experimental economics.
