Shazia Sadaf is an Associate Professor at Carleton University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her work bridges human rights literature and postcolonial studies, with a focus on South Asian narratives in political, social, and cultural contexts. PhD in English, University of London, UK PhD in Postcolonial Studies, Western University, Canada MA in English, King’s College London, UK Dr. Sadaf’s research examines human rights as a linguistic and literary discourse, analyzing memoirs, films, and art through post-9/11 geopolitical frameworks. She situates her work within the intersection of migration, gender, and decolonial narratives, particularly in Pakistani and South Asian contexts. Her recent publications explore topics like Pakistani-Canadian diaspora identities, queer futures, and the politics of post-9/11 memoirs. She has contributed to journals such as Journal of Postcolonial Writing and Postcolonial Text , focusing on violence, aid, and precarity in global literature. Professional Achievement Award 2021, Carleton University Excellence in Teaching Award 2020-2021, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Carleton University Dr. Sadaf serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Postcolonial Writing and teaches courses on social justice, terrorism, and human rights narratives. Her work extends beyond traditional social science frameworks into interdisciplinary analysis of power and representation.
