Alice Pechriggl is a Full Professor of Philosophy at the Alpen-Adria-University Klagenfurt, affiliated with the Institute of Philosophy within the Faculty of Cultural and Educational Sciences. She holds roles including Head of the Institute of Philosophy, member of the Philosophy Curricular Commission, and the Doctoral Advisory Board 1 Dr. phil. Her research focuses on Political Philosophy, Psychoanalysis, and Cultural Philosophy, with deep engagement in Ancient Greek Philosophy and Feminist Gender Anthropology. Notable works include studies on Cornelius Castoriadis' social imaginary, the intersection of psychoanalysis and political theory, and feminist critiques of metaphysical gender hierarchies. Her publications span over 40 books and papers, including analyses of Ingeborg Bachmann’s philosophical contributions, the role of collective denial in political crises, and explorations of eros in ancient thought. Recent works address nationalism as identitarian acting-out, the topology of 'Heimat,' and pandemic-era societal responses. Recipient of grants from the Austrian Science Fund, she has advised numerous interdisciplinary projects. Her research lab focuses on the philosophical dimensions of body politics, performative agency, and biopolitical governance.
