Christopher Dewey is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Huddersfield, part of the School of Computing and Engineering. He is also a member of the Centre for Audio and Psychoacoustic Engineering. His research focuses on user interface design for music production and creative technologies, particularly interfaces for audio mixing and music performance. Dewey holds an MSc by Research (2014) and a PhD (2023) from the University of Huddersfield, with his doctoral work investigating audio mixing interfaces for popular music production. Beyond academia, he has significant industry experience as a live sound engineer, DJ, and producer in the British dub reggae scene. His expertise spans audio engineering, human-computer interaction, and creative technology. Key research areas include user-centered design of audio tools, spatial audio, and the application of data visualization principles to music production interfaces. Dewey actively collaborates with industry professionals and has presented at international conferences such as the AES Convention. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in fostering cultural innovation and technological advancement. Recent publications (2024-2025) explore topics like immersive audio production for rap music, distortion in drum and bass, and user-centered analyses of mixing interfaces. He has supervised two academic works and maintains an h-index of 34 with over 4,000 citations. His community engagement includes promoting dub reggae culture through event organization, bridging academic and practical aspects of music technology.
