Philip A. Ojo is a Professor of French at Agnes Scott College, where he serves in the Department of French & German. He holds a BEd and MA from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and a PhD from the University of Oregon. His research focuses on Francophone African and Caribbean cultures, postcolonial theory, and translation studies. Professor Ojo has published extensively on Beninese literature, Maryse Condé, and Sony Labou Tansi, and contributes to The Encyclopaedia of Africa and the Americas. He leads PagesFrancophones@ASC, an online resource promoting Francophone studies, and engages in global educational initiatives including study tours to Benin, France, and Martinique.
Recent scholarly works analyze identity expressions in African popular culture and explore themes of social transformation through literature and music. His teaching emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to Francophone cultures, integrating global awareness projects that connect students with Francophone communities worldwide.
