Dr. Danielle Heinrichs Henry is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education and Professional Studies at Griffith University, Australia. She holds appointments in the Griffith Institute for Educational Research and the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research. Her research focuses on multilingual communication, critical literacy, and sociolinguistics, with a particular emphasis on crisis communication, decolonial pedagogy, and language education. Dr. Henry currently leads the Doctoral Training Programme within Griffith’s Climate Action Beacon and introduced the Digital Badge in Multilingual Crisis and Disaster Communication. Education: She holds a PhD in Sociolinguistics & Social Media from the University of Queensland, alongside a Master of International Education, Bachelor of Arts (Spanish & German), and a Diploma of Education. Research Interests: Multilingual crisis communication, digital ethnography, critical literacy, disaster management, and sociolinguistic theories. She has led projects funded by NHMRC, Natural Hazards Research Australia, and the German Government, focusing on heatwave communication, generative AI in health crises, and multilingual education. Awards: Recognized as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2020), recipient of the 2023 Student Experience of Teaching Survey Commendation, and nominee for the UQ Research Culture Awards 2023. Advising & Grants: Supervised doctoral and masters students in language education and critical pedagogy. Key grants include the NHMRC-funded 'Community Driven Communication During Health Crises' and the Natural Hazards Fellowship for heatwave messaging. Labs & Teams: Active in Griffith’s Climate Action Beacon, Griffith Institute for Educational Research, and GriffLinc - Literacy in Context. Collaborates internationally with institutions like the University of Hong Kong and the Children’s Tumour Foundation.
