Dr. Olga Berkout is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Director of the ETX-CBS Lab at the University of Texas at Tyler. Her work focuses on contextual behavioral science strategies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), self-compassion, and mindfulness, with a particular emphasis on digital mental health solutions. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mississippi and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland College Park. Dr. Berkout teaches courses including Applied Therapy, Clinical Skills, and Evidence-Based Psychotherapy.
Her research explores transdiagnostic processes in psychological well-being, rural mental health challenges, and technology-driven approaches to improve healthcare accessibility. She directs the East Texas Contextual Behavioral Science Lab (ETX-CBS), advancing culturally responsive interventions and innovative assessment tools. Recent publications address rural healthcare provider insights, psychological inflexibility in text analysis, and LGBTQ+ mental health resilience.
Dr. Berkout is a licensed psychologist in Texas (License #37551) and advocates for inclusive lab cultures and equitable mental health strategies. Her work bridges clinical practice, technological innovation, and community outreach to address unmet mental health needs in underserved populations.
