Linda Grabner-Travis is a Lecturer in Foreign Languages at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Latin American literatures and cultures. She holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, an MA in Latin American Literatures and Hispanic Linguistics from The Ohio State University (OSU), and a BS in Dietetics and Nutrition from OSU. Her research focuses on identity construction in Latin America, particularly through the lenses of gender, ethnicity, and nationalism. She co-edited the essay collection Lenguas e identidades en los Andes (2005) and serves as Managing Editor of the Hispanic Review journal.
Her teaching spans language courses at all levels, specialized content courses like Spanish for medical professionals, and courses exploring health/illness narratives and identity in Latin American contexts. She has taught at Drexel University, the University of Michigan, and Canisius College. Her current projects include investigating representations of health and illness in Hispanic science fiction.
Her scholarly contributions address sociolinguistics, Andean indigenous studies, and the intersection of gender with national identity. She has maintained active involvement in academic publishing through her editorial work at Hispanic Review.
