Dr. Iliana Pagán-Teitelbaum is an Associate Professor of Languages and Cultures at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. She holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures from Harvard University, an M.A. from Harvard, and a B.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Puerto Rico. Her research focuses on equity, violence, and cultural studies in Latin America, with notable projects including the Multilingual Memory Project and the Global Hispanic Film Festival. Dr. Pagán is also an accomplished filmmaker, having directed films such as Twin Tongues/Lenguas gemelas and Marcial, which explore themes of bilingualism, migration, and identity. She has received grants including the Leeway Foundation Art and Change Grant and the Los Fellows Film Residency.
Her academic publications span analyses of Latin American cinema, literature, and discourse, with recent work examining journalistic discourse in Peru. Dr. Pagán advises the Latino American Student Organization (LASO) and co-chairs the WCU Innovation in Diversity and Inclusion Grants Council. She teaches courses on Latin American film, cultural studies, and Spanish language at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Her creative works and academic projects emphasize intersectional themes such as indigenous representation, disability justice, and the politics of language. The annual Global Hispanic Film Festival, founded by Dr. Pagán, showcases Hispanic realities across global contexts, fostering cultural dialogue through cinema.
