Jytte Holmqvist is a Senior Lecturer in Spanish Language and Literature at Lund University's Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL). She holds a PhD in Screen and Media Culture and Spanish Literature from the University of Melbourne (2015), with a thesis on the cinema of Pedro Almodóvar and Ventura Pons. Her teaching spans film studies, film theory, and Spanish/Italian language and culture across institutions like University of Melbourne, Monash University, Auckland University, and HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication & Creative Industries.

Her research combines film and media studies, cultural studies, philosophy, and existentialist theory, focusing on Latin American cinema, global cinema, film festivals, and narrative brevity. She is finalizing a monograph on Almodóvar and Pons to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Almodóvar's first short film. Her recent publications analyze postmodern temporal narratives, Latin American cinema, and affective healthcare dynamics.
Scientific contributions include editing The Patient-Doctor Dynamics (Brill, 2018) and analyzing Hiroshima Mon Amour’s affective discourse. She is also President of the Hispanic Society of Victoria, advocating for Spanish-speaking cultural networks.
