Luis García-Torvisco is an Associate Professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literature at Gonzaga University, where he teaches advanced Spanish language, literature, film, and cultural studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Literature and Cultural Studies from Georgetown University and has previously taught at Georgetown and George Washington University.

- Contemporary Spanish Literature and Culture
- Spanish Cinema, especially Pedro Almodóvar and the Movida movement
- Latin American Documentaries and Cultural Mythology
- Queer and Gender Identity in Hispanic Narratives
- Postmodernism and Cultural Capitalism in 1980s Spain
- Psychoanalytic and Hybrid Approaches in Film
The trends in his recent publications reflect a deep engagement with myth, nostalgia, identity, and socio-political critique in Spanish and Latin American cinema and literature. His work frequently analyzes how cultural movements like the Movida and post-dictatorship democracies shape cinematic and literary expression, with a particular focus on marginalized identities and documentary storytelling.
