Brian Cope

Brian Cope is an Associate Professor of Spanish and holds the Raymond and Carolyn Dix Chair of Spanish at The College of Wooster. His research spans Spanish literature, cinema, and intellectual history, with a focus on intersections between philosophy, literature, and cultural studies. He teaches courses from introductory Spanish to advanced topics like existentialist writers and film.

Brian Cope’s research explores themes of skepticism, existentialism, and cultural identity in Spanish and Latin American literature and cinema. He is currently preparing a manuscript on Miguel de Unamuno’s use of skepsis in novels addressing personal and collective crises. His publications examine works by Cervantes, Almodóvar, and contemporary filmmakers.
