Natalie Delia is an Associate Professor in Criminology and Acting Head of Interdisciplinary and Critical Studies (IaCS) at the University of Windsor's Department of Sociology and Criminology. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Emory University (2016), an M.A. in Sociology from the University of South Florida (2011), and a B.A. in Latin American Studies from Columbia University (2002). Her research focuses on migration policy, criminal justice systems, human trafficking, and the intersections of race, gender, and state power. She has authored numerous articles on topics such as immigrant discourses, policing strategies, and neoliberal governance. Dr. Delia's work bridges sociological theory with applied research, examining how state policies and cultural narratives shape marginalized groups' experiences. She serves on editorial boards for Sociology of Race and Ethnicity , Journal of Human Trafficking , and Numeracy . Her recent scholarship addresses contemporary issues like systemic avoidance among African Canadians, the economic impacts of restrictive immigration policies, and the role of surveillance in criminal justice systems. Her publications span journals in criminology, sociology, and education, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach. Notable contributions include analyses of the commercial sexual exploitation of children, welfare policy in Puerto Rico, and the discursive power of media framing around immigration. Dr. Delia actively engages in collaborative research, emphasizing marginalized voices and intersectional perspectives.
