Dr. John Rayfield is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications at Texas Tech University. His research and teaching focus on experiential learning, instructional methods, and agricultural education program design. He has held roles as superintendent of the National FFA Livestock Career Development Event and assistant superintendent of the National 4-H Livestock Judging Contest, showcasing his leadership in agricultural youth programs. Dr. Rayfield’s awards include the AAAE Southern Region Distinguished Researcher (2016), the Texas A&M University Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching, and the Honorary American FFA Degree (2013). He co-authored a textbook, Principles of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources , and has published extensively in agricultural education journals. Teaching Roles: Undergraduate courses include AGED 4404 (Methods of Teaching Agricultural Science) and AGED 3333 (Developing Secondary Agricultural Programs). Graduate courses include AGED 5302 (Research Methods in Agricultural Education) and AGED 5308 (Foundations of Adult Education). Research Interests: Focus on teacher development, experiential learning, and program efficacy in agricultural education. His work addresses challenges faced by educators, survey methodologies, and STEM integration. His service contributions span livestock judging, FFA leadership, and curriculum development, reflecting a commitment to advancing agricultural education through practice and policy.
