Angela K. Kubena is a Lecturer IV in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan, where she also serves as Training Director and is a member of the Introductory Program Coordination Team. She teaches undergraduate courses including Calculus I and Linear Algebra, and is actively involved in curriculum development and instructor training.

Research Interests:
Angela Kubena specializes in Geometric Group Theory and Undergraduate Mathematics Education. Her work in geometric group theory includes deep investigations into CAT(0) geometry, complexes of groups, Coxeter groups, Artin groups, and the asymptotic behavior of groups and metric spaces. She also focuses on improving the pedagogy and delivery of introductory mathematics courses at the undergraduate level.
Her teaching and leadership roles are centered on enhancing the learning experience for first-year students, particularly in Calculus and Linear Algebra. She leads group-based instruction and inquiry-based learning (IBL) sections, and provides training and support for graduate student instructors and faculty.

Angela is integral to the Introductory Program Coordination Team at the University of Michigan, which oversees the structure, delivery, and continuous improvement of foundational mathematics courses. She also contributes to the department’s professional development programs for instructors.
