Patrick Boland serves as a Curtis E. Huntington Collegiate Lecturer in the Mathematics Department at the University of Michigan. He teaches a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses across various mathematical disciplines.
Boland earned his B.A. from Providence College in 2003 and his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts in 2010. His teaching responsibilities span foundational to advanced mathematics, reflecting his extensive knowledge across the mathematical spectrum.
His expertise encompasses calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, geometry, and topology, with particular emphasis on innovative pedagogical approaches. Boland has developed and taught numerous inquiry-based learning (IBL) courses including Introduction to Cryptology, Honors Multivariable & Vector Calculus, and specialized courses for future educators.
Dr. Boland maintains regular office hours in East Hall, providing student support on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5pm in room 4851, and Wednesdays from 3-4pm in room B860. He currently teaches multiple sections of Calculus I (MATH 115) to undergraduate students.
