Professor Dana Wilson-Kovacs is a qualitative sociologist at the University of Exeter, affiliated with the Department of Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy, and Anthropology. Her research focuses on digital forensics in policing contexts, examining operational demands, organizational settings, and professional values. She leads projects funded by the ESRC, British Academy, and other bodies, exploring forensic practices and their impacts on criminal justice outcomes. Her key research interests include forensic-policing interfaces, application of forensic expertise outside laboratories, and digital forensics’ influence on investigative practices. She is associated with the Egenis Centre and Exeter’s Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, contributing to interdisciplinary studies on justice, technology, and policy. Recent projects include examining digital evidence strategies (2023–2025), human factors in forensic decision-making (2022), and ethnographic studies of digital forensics in UK policing (2017–2022). She has advised on policy, served on academic committees, and engaged in media commentary through the University’s Press Office.
