Adrian Pudsey

Associate Professor Adrian Pudsey is the DSTG Joint Chair in Supersonic Propulsion and Flight Technologies at RMIT University's Department of Research & Innovation. He holds academic roles from 2015 onwards, including Senior Lecturer (2018–2021) and Lecturer (2015–2018). His research focuses on high-speed flight systems, including supersonic/hypersonic aerothermodynamics, Rotating Detonation Engines (RDEs), Scramjet propulsion, rocket systems, and computational fluid dynamics.

Education and Non-Academic Background: Prior to academia, Pudsey served in technical roles with the Royal Australian Air Force (1996–2009) and the Defence Science and Technology Group (2011–2014). He also worked as a Research Associate at Universität der Bundeswehr München (2014–2015).

Research Interests: Pudsey’s work emphasizes practical applications of high-speed propulsion technologies. Key areas include RDE integration into flight vehicles, scramjet combustion optimization, and viscous drag reduction. He actively supervises PhD/Masters students in these domains.

Grants/Projects: Recent projects include exploring fuel types for RDEs, digital engineering techniques for flight vehicles, and thermal management of rocket engines. Teaching focuses on aerospace systems and certification courses.
