Walther Ploos van Amstel

Dr. Walther Ploos van Amstel is a Full Professor in City Logistics and Urban Technology at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), Faculty of Technology (FT). His research focuses on sustainable city logistics, e-mobility, urban consolidation centers, and collaborative logistics systems. He has held academic positions at the Netherlands Defence Academy and VU University Amsterdam, including roles as Professor and Associate Professor.

Education: Doctorate in Economics (2002, VU University Amsterdam). Key projects include the NWO ITSLOG program on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for city logistics, the ERANET SAILOR project on last-mile logistics innovation, and leadership in Dutch initiatives like the 'Gas op Elektrisch' project.

Walther leads initiatives such as the Green Deal Zero Construction Logistics and Zero Emission City Logistics, and collaborates with organizations like Ahold Delhaize and Simacan. His work emphasizes sustainable urban development through electrification, circular supply chains, and smart logistics systems.

Recent projects include H2Waste (hydrogen trucks) and AZED (zero-emission home deliveries). He also participates in international projects like JPI Urban CIVIC, focusing on urban construction logistics in European cities.
