Mary Hubbell is an Adjunct Faculty member in Voice at the Department of Music and Dance, University of Massachusetts Amherst. A soprano acclaimed by the New York Times for her “sweetly focused tone,” she performs extensively across North America and Europe in styles ranging from Baroque to avant-garde. Her educational background includes: Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York First Phase Degree in Classical Singing from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague Masters Degree in Voice from the University of California, Santa Barbara Dr. Hubbell’s artistic practice centers on Vocal Performance with deep specialization in Early Music (Bach, Vivaldi, and Renaissance repertoire) and Contemporary Music (premiering works by living composers). She actively bridges historical and modern traditions through opera, art song recitals, and collaborations with ensembles like Arcadia Players and Composer’s Voice Series, frequently highlighting women composers and new music festivals. Her work demonstrates exceptional stylistic versatility from Carnegie Hall recitals to European contemporary music venues.
