Albert Cano Smit

Albert Cano Smit is an Iva Dee Hiatt Visiting Artist in Piano and Lecturer in Music at Smith College. He holds a B.M. from the Colburn Conservatory of Music and an M.M. and Artist Diploma from The Juilliard School. His performances span orchestral, recital, and chamber music stages, with highlights including Carnegie Hall and collaborations with renowned ensembles like the Ebene and Szymanowski Quartets.

Research interests focus on classical piano performance, interpretation of contemporary works, and chamber music collaboration. He has premiered pieces by Katherine Balch, Stephen Hough, and Miquel Oliu, emphasizing new music advocacy. Awards include the Naumburg and Young Concert Artists competition prizes, alongside Juilliard’s Rubinstein Prize.
