Karen Neary is a Lecturer at Mount Royal University Conservatory where she serves as Collaborative Pianist and Piano Faculty. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Master of Music in Piano Performance, Accompaniment, and Literature from Brandon University. An internationally recognized collaborative pianist, she specializes in chamber music partnerships with string players and has worked extensively with opera, choral, and wind/brass ensembles.
Her professional focus includes mentoring young performers, coaching chamber music, and preparing students for competitions and auditions. She has collaborated with renowned artists including Edmond Agopian, Amanda Forsyth, and Gwen Hoebig, and has participated in masterclasses with prominent pedagogues like Pinchas Zukerman and Janos Starker.
Neary's career highlights include a 14-concert tour as Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Young Artist and regular appearances on CBC television and radio. She maintains an active performance schedule while teaching private piano students.
