Joanna Marcinkowska is an Associate Professor at the Piano Department within the Institute of Instrumental Studies at the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. She holds a habilitated doctorate in musical arts, which she received from the same institution in 2014.
Her educational background includes graduating with honors from the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in the class of Professor Waldemar Andrzejewski, whose assistant she subsequently became before advancing to her current professorial position.
As one of Poland's leading pianists of the younger generation, Professor Marcinkowska specializes in piano performance with deep expertise in classical repertoire, particularly works by Chopin, Szymanowski, and other major composers. Her artistic focus encompasses solo recitals, chamber music collaborations, and symphonic performances, with special attention to authentic interpretation of classical and romantic piano literature. She has particular expertise in Polish musical traditions and has premiered contemporary works by Polish composers including Mirosław Bukowski's 4th Piano Sonata.

Professor Marcinkowska actively contributes to musical education through piano master classes both in Poland and internationally, including a two-week Master Piano Class at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing (2009). She regularly serves on competition juries and has received multiple artistic scholarships from cultural institutions. Her recording portfolio includes works by Mozart, Haydn, Schumann, Chopin, Paderewski, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, and Szymanowski, with special focus on Polish musical heritage.
She maintains an active performance schedule with symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, and solo recitals across multiple continents, representing Polish musical tradition on the international stage while contributing to contemporary repertoire through premieres of new works.
