Kevin Fitz-Gerald

Kevin Fitz-Gerald is a Professor of Piano Performance and Collaborative Arts at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. Born in Kelowna, British Columbia, he holds degrees from the Victoria Conservatory of Music, The Banff Centre School of Fine Arts, and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.

Research & Performance Interests include piano performance, collaborative arts, and chamber music. His concert repertoire spans classical concertos by composers like Beethoven, Mozart, and Liszt, with a focus on both solo and ensemble works. He has performed extensively with orchestras such as the Toronto Symphony and Montreal Symphony, and his recordings cover works by Franck, Brahms, and Rachmaninoff.

Scientific Awards include:

• Winner of the Du Maurier Search for Stars National Television Competition
• Winner of the CBC National Radio Auditions
• Recipient of the CFMX Professional Studies Grant

As a dedicated educator, Fitz-Gerald’s students have won awards in prestigious competitions like the Rubinstein International Piano Competition and the Colman National Chamber Music Competition. He maintains an active schedule as a guest masterclass teacher at institutions such as the Banff School of Fine Arts and the Colburn School for the Performing Arts.

His career highlights include performances at Carnegie Recital Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and collaborations with artists like Hagai Shaham, Anne Akiko Meyers, and the St. Petersburg String Quartet. He is also a renowned duo pianist with Bernadene Blaha, performing extensively in North America, Europe, and Asia.
