Dee Spencer

Dee Spencer is a Collegiate Professional Development Contact and Lecturer at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM). She teaches Teaching Artistry and holds roles in professional development. Her education includes an Ed.D from the University of San Francisco, M.M. from Washington University in St. Louis, and B.S. in Music Education from Florida A&M University, specializing in oboe performance.

Her research interests span music education innovation, jazz performance practices, and interdisciplinary artistry. She has composed works like Sweet Emma B (commissioned for the 2020 JEN Conference) and released the solo piano album Tranquility (2018). Notable performances include collaborations with Grammy winner Ledisi and jazz legends John Handy and Clark Terry.

Dee has served as a panelist for the 2023 Grammy Music Educator Award and worked with Wynton Marsalis for the Essentially Ellington Competition. She actively participates in SFCM's summer programs, mentoring students in vocal and instrumental recitals.
