Rosamund Scott is a Professor of Medical Law and Ethics and Director of the Centre of Medical Law and Ethics at King’s College London’s Dickson Poon School of Law. She holds a PhD in reproductive law and ethics from King’s, following studies in Philosophy (Australian National University) and Law (Oxford). Her research focuses on reproductive ethics, law, and bioethics, particularly in areas like preimplantation genetic diagnosis, mitochondrial replacement, and stem cell research governance. She has authored monographs such as Rights, Duties and the Body (2002) and Choosing between Possible Lives (2007), and co-edited Regulating Reproductive Donation (2016). Her work has been supported by the Wellcome Trust and the AHRC. She has advised the MRC, Nuffield Council on Bioethics, and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Publications span interdisciplinary themes like embryo moral status, consent frameworks, and international human rights in reproductive medicine. Key projects include Wellcome Trust-funded research on reproductive material donation and stem cell ethics.
