Emily Janke

Emily M. Janke is a Professor in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies and Director of the Institute for Community and Economic Engagement (ICEE) at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG). She specializes in community-engaged scholarship, institutional change strategies, and conflict transformation within university-community partnerships. Dr. Janke co-developed Collaboratory®, an online database tracking community-university partnerships, and serves on editorial boards for journals like the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement. Her work emphasizes ethical engagement, promotion/tenure policy reform, and reciprocity in partnerships. She has been recognized with awards including the Barbara A. Holland Scholar-Administrator Award and the John Saltmarsh Award for Emerging Leaders in Civic Engagement.

Education: Ph.D. in Higher Education from Pennsylvania State University, B.A. in Environmental Geography from Colgate University, with additional studies at the University of Wollongong and University of Bradford.
