William Rabun

William Rabun is a Part-time Assistant Professor of Music at DePauw University, serving as director of the Tiger Pep Band and brass instrument chamber music coordinator. He maintains an active studio and freelance performance career in Indianapolis, recording for Carl Fischer and composers including Randall Standridge. Currently completing his Doctor of Music degree in trumpet performance and brass literature at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music.

Rabun's research centers on trumpet performance practice across classical, jazz, and studio contexts. His performance experience spans North America, Europe, and the Middle East, including collaborations with jazz legends Bill Watrous and Tom "Bones" Malone. He integrates global performance traditions into pedagogy, emphasizing his philosophy that "trumpet is a way of life" connecting people and shaping identity through musical expression.

He advises students through brass chamber music coordination and directs the Tiger Pep Band. No research grants are documented in available sources.

Current leadership includes DePauw's Tiger Pep Band and brass chamber ensembles. Previously led the Frigid Brass Quintet during U.S. Army service and held principal trumpet positions with the Artic Chamber Orchestra, Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Fairbanks under Metropolitan Opera's Gregory Buchalter.
