Dr. Jeremy Brekke is an Associate Professor of Trumpet at North Dakota State University's Challey School of Music. He teaches trumpet, high brass methods, brass chamber groups, jazz lab band, and jazz combo. His performance career spans orchestras, jazz ensembles, and cruise line/theatre productions. He holds a Doctorate of Arts (D.A.) and M.M. from the University of Northern Colorado, and a B.S. in Music Education from NDSU.

Research interests include brass pedagogy, jazz performance, and orchestral trumpet techniques. His students have been featured at International Trumpet Guild (ITG) conferences, with the NDSU Trumpet Ensemble premiering a commissioned work in 2011. Active as a clinician and adjudicator, he contributes to the ITG and performs with ensembles like the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony and NDSU Faculty Brass Quintet.
Award-winning soloist with groups including the Centennial Philharmonic and Loyola Orchestra, Brekke’s diverse performances include classical, jazz, and contemporary styles across orchestras and big bands. Notably won the 2001 Rocky Mountain Concerto Competition.
