Robyn Smith serves as a Music Teaching Associate (Trombone) at the University of Illinois Chicago's School of Theatre and Music, concurrently holding the position of Principal Trombonist with the Chicago Sinfonietta Orchestra. Previously, she was Second Trombonist of the Detroit Opera and maintains active performance engagements with major orchestras nationwide.

Smith specializes in cross-genre trombone performance spanning classical orchestral works, jazz ensembles, and contemporary collaborations. As an educator, Smith mentors underrepresented youth through Sistema Ravinia and national programs dedicated to developing Black and brown professional musicians. She provides private instruction while advancing equity initiatives across music education platforms.
