David Perkel serves as Adjunct Professor of trombone and euphonium in the Department of Music at Towson University's College of Fine Arts and Communication, while also holding a teaching position at George Washington University.
A versatile trombonist, Perkel maintains dual careers in orchestral and jazz performance. His orchestral work includes five years as Second Trombonist of the Richmond Symphony, performances with the National Symphony Orchestra and Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, and appointment as principal trombonist of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra since 1999. In jazz, he has collaborated with luminaries including Branford Marsalis, Chris Potter, Dianne Schuur, and the Navy Band Commodores jazz ensemble, where he served as lead trombonist and soloist for sixteen years.
Perkel earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of North Texas, Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts from The Catholic University of America. As an Edwards Trombone Artist, he has presented master classes nationwide and served as low brass professor at Frostburg State University and artist-in-residence at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival.
