James Albrecht is an Assistant Professor of Trombone and Euphonium at the University of Nevada, Reno (since 2018), and principal trombonist of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra. He also performs with the Great Basin Brass Quintet and Reno Chamber Orchestra. Previously, he taught at the University of Akron and served as 2nd trombonist in the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. His orchestral experience includes roles with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, and New World Symphony.

Performance & Pedagogy: A renowned performer and educator, Albrecht focuses on brass instrument techniques, chamber music, and orchestral performance. He is a Bach Performing Artist and performs on Greg Black Mouthpieces. His career includes collaborations with the Southeast Trombone Symposium, Burning River Brass, and faculty brass ensembles. He has performed at major festivals (e.g., Pacific Music Festival, Spoleto USA) and recorded with the Cleveland Orchestra and Pittsburgh Symphony.
Clinical Work: Albrecht delivers masterclasses at institutions like the Cleveland Institute of Music, Duquesne University, and The Ohio State University, emphasizing brass pedagogy and ensemble techniques.
