Mark Hoelscher is an Adjunct Professor of Trombone & Euphonium and Chamber Music Coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), based at the Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts. He holds a Master of Music (MM) from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Music (BM) from Wichita State University.
His research interests focus on performance practices in orchestral and chamber music, with specialization in bass trombone and euphonium. He actively engages in jazz ensemble performance and classical pops orchestral work, blending technical mastery with pedagogical innovation.
Hoelscher has performed with major ensembles including the Chicago Sinfonietta, Milwaukee Symphony, and Madison Symphony Orchestra. His professional affiliations include the Millar Brass Ensemble and roles as Edwards artist/clinician. He received a prestigious fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival, where he studied chamber music with the American Brass Quintet.
His teaching extends to studio instruction and ensemble coaching, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration. He maintains an active performance schedule across the Midwest and internationally with touring orchestras and theatrical productions.
