Greg Flint is an Associate Professor of Horn at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), a position he has held since 2003. He also serves as Horn Director and Chamber Music Coach. Prior to UWM, he taught at DePaul University and Northwestern University, his alma mater where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance. His career spans solo, chamber, and orchestral performances globally, including roles with the Elgin Symphony, Chicago Symphony, and Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. He is a prominent freelance musician, performing with renowned artists like Frank Sinatra and Celine Dion, and holds leadership roles in ensembles such as the Asbury Brass Quintet and Chamber Music Milwaukee series.
His performance credits include principal horn roles with the Elgin Symphony, Chicago Jazz Orchestra, and Santa Fe Opera. Notable performances include Strauss' Concerto No. 1 (nationally broadcast) and solos with Lyric Opera of Chicago under Zubin Mehta. Flint’s teaching emphasizes brass chamber music and horn performance, supplemented by masterclasses in Spain, Costa Rica, Brazil, Colombia, Taiwan, and across the U.S.
Flint’s artistic collaborations extend to the Tower Brass of Chicago, Fulcrum Point Brass Quintet, and Prairie Winds. He balances academic leadership with active participation in jazz, classical, and operatic traditions, reflecting a multifaceted career in music performance and education.
