Jonathan Boen serves as Lecturer in Brass at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music and faculty at Roosevelt University, alongside his principal horn positions with the Lyric Opera of Chicago since 1979 and Grant Park Orchestra since 1998. He has held guest principal roles with the Dallas Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestras.

Boen's artistic expertise centers on horn performance within orchestral, operatic, and chamber music contexts, emphasizing lyrical interpretation influenced by his opera experience. His repertoire spans Baroque to contemporary works, featuring masterful renditions of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, and Strauss, with notable premieres including Aaron Jay Kernis' 'Legacy' (2017) and Jan Bach's Horn Concerto.
