Oto Carrillo is an Adjunct Lecturer in Horn Performance at DePaul University's School of Music and serves as principal horn for Music of the Baroque. Appointed to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra horn section by Daniel Barenboim in 2000, he maintains active performance and educational roles across major musical institutions.

Carrillo's professional focus centers on advanced horn performance across orchestral, chamber, and solo contexts. He specializes in repertoire spanning Baroque to contemporary works, having premiered Augusta Read Thomas' Silver Chants the Litanies and performed with ensembles including the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera of Chicago. His technical expertise encompasses historical performance practices through Music of the Baroque collaborations.

As an educator, Carrillo has taught applied horn at DePaul University since 2003 and served ten years as horn professor at the Pacific Regional International Summer Music Academy (PRISMA). He conducts global master classes and mentors emerging orchestral musicians through the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's educational initiatives.
Professionally, he performs with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra horn section, Music of the Baroque, Chicago Sinfonietta, and Lyric Opera of Chicago. Chamber collaborations include Civitas, Dempster Street Pro Musica, Chicago Chamber Musicians, and the Millar Brass Ensemble, with recent guest principal roles in Mexico's Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional and Utah Symphony.
