Taylor Donaldson is a Course Instructor (Jazz Trombone) at McGill University's Schulich School of Music. He is affiliated with the Music Performance department and part of the Faculty group. His roles include trombonist, composer, arranger, and educator.
Education: Master’s degree in Trombone Performance from McGill University (2011).
Research/Performance Interests: Active in jazz, classical, and commercial music scenes. Leads a 17-piece big band and small ensembles, performs internationally with groups like l’Orchestre National de Jazz de Montréal (ONJM), and collaborates with renowned artists such as Christine Jensen and Oliver Jones. Specializes in brass performance, composition for jazz orchestra, and orchestral arrangements.
Performance History: Principal Trombonist of the Kingston Symphony Orchestra (2008-2009), performed in North America, Europe, and Asia. Works across genres including musical theatre, swing dance, and studio recordings.
Composition/Arrangements: Written music for ensembles like l’Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Toronto Jazz Orchestra, and McGill Jazz Orchestra. Active in Quebec and Ontario jazz communities.
