Mark Ferguson is a Course Instructor in Jazz Trombone at the Schulich School of Music, McGill University. As a multi-faceted musician, he serves as a trombonist, pianist, composer, arranger, producer, and educator. His career spans collaborations with renowned artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, and Gil Evans, alongside performances with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and military bands. Ferguson has composed music for television, museums, and the software industry, and produced numerous independent recordings. His arrangements have been commissioned by prestigious ensembles like the National Arts Centre Orchestra and the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces.
In education, Ferguson has taught jazz trombone, piano, theory, and arranging for many years, while also serving as an adjudicator and clinician at music festivals across Canada. His work bridges performance, composition, and pedagogy, emphasizing jazz and classical traditions.
