Thomas Ashworth serves as Professor of Trombone at the University of Minnesota's School of Music, teaching alto, tenor and bass trombone to undergraduate and graduate students. His instructional responsibilities include directing the Trombone Choir, coaching the Jazz 'Bones ensemble, and teaching graduate courses in Studio Administration.
An accomplished performer, Ashworth previously served as featured trombonist with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and has performed with major ensembles including the Minnesota Orchestra and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. His commercial performance credits include collaborations with Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., and Doc Severinsen.
Ashworth holds degrees from California State University-Fresno and North Texas State University, studying with renowned brass pedagogues. He performs exclusively on Bach trombones and maintains active international clinic and adjudication activities.
