Dr. Kevin L. Evans serves as the inaugural Dean of Health Sciences at Glenville State College since June 2023. Previously, he held roles as Professor of Chemistry (promoted 2011) and Associate Professor of Chemistry (2001–2011). He has extensive teaching experience in general/organic chemistry and forensic chemistry for non-majors. His research focuses on novel chemical synthesis methods, including anti-Markovnikov hydrobromination of alkenes.
- Alma mater: B.A. Chemistry (Glenville State College, 1987), Ph.D. Organic Chemistry (Louisiana State University, 1993)
- Leadership roles: Chairperson of Science & Mathematics Department (2021–23), NASA Program Facilitator (2007–2010)
Active in STEM outreach: Coordinated K-12 teacher workshops, high school STEM programs, and forensic science institutes. Served on statewide organizations including West Virginia Academy of Sciences (President) and American Chemical Society.
- Award recipient: 6 spectroscopy equipment grants, 9 Forensic Science Institute grants, and numerous teacher workshop grants
- Committee leadership: 14 years on Faculty Senate, Academic Policy Committee chair, and Board of Governors representative
Current vision: Expand Health Sciences College programs while maintaining academic excellence in existing majors.
