Dr Kara Ng is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Organisational Psychology at the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. She serves as academic lead for the Leadership and Social Change theme at the Thomas Ashton Institute and is a member of the Work and Equalities Institute, contributing to research on workplace ethics and equality.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Moral Issues of Bystander Behaviour in Workplace Bullying, an MSc in Organisational Psychology, and dual BA degrees in Psychology and Classical Languages & Literature from the University of Rochester.
Ng's research investigates unethical workplace behaviors with primary focus on bullying dynamics and bystander intervention. She examines workplace deviance including incivility, abusive supervision, and counterproductive behaviors through behavioral ethics frameworks. Her work addresses United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to decent work and economic growth.
Recent publications reveal consistent thematic progression: developing measurement tools for bystander responses (2025), analyzing emotional consequences of career stagnation (2024), identifying contextual moderators in bullying-wellbeing relationships (2023), and evaluating safety training efficacy for vulnerable workers (2022).
