Jens Bjørn-Larsen

Jens Bjørn-Larsen is an Associate Professor at the Danish Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (DKDM), specializing in tuba education. He also teaches at the Malmö Academy of Music and has held professorships at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover since 2002 and visiting professorships at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester.

• Education: Studied at the Danish Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, supplemented by private lessons and masterclasses in the USA with Arnold Jacobs.

As a leading tuba soloist and educator, he bridges performance excellence with pedagogical innovation. His students dominate Danish tuba positions and excel in international competitions.

Artistic Practice: A globally sought-after soloist and chamber musician, he was the solo tuba player for the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra (1980s-2005) and remains active in ensembles like Royal Danish Brass, Stockholm Chamber Brass, and the Danish Brass Quintet. Since 2010, he has been a permanent associate member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

Jury & Leadership Roles: Former International representative on the ITEA Board of Directors and a frequent judge at major competitions like AEOLUS Wettbewerb and Deutscher Musikwettbewerb.
