Janina Steinmetz is a Professor of Marketing at Bayes Business School, City, University of London. Previously, she held roles as Assistant Professor at Utrecht University (2016–2018) and post-doctoral researcher at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (2014–2016). She earned her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Cologne (2014). Her research focuses on consumer motivation, self-control in social contexts, and impression management. Key areas include how social presence influences consumer behavior, gamification effects on saving goals, and the psychology of consumer decision-making. She has published in leading journals such as Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, European Journal of Social Psychology, and Psychology & Marketing.
