Jake Beckert is a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of History at the University of Washington. His research focuses on the intersections of American economic development, finance, and political transformation in Mandatory Palestine, particularly examining the role of American Jewish investors in shaping the region's economic landscape. He has taught courses on Global Environmental History, Culture and Politics in 20th Century America, and related themes.

Beckert's dissertation analyzes the Palestine Economic Corporation (PEC), a transnational development corporation founded by American non-Zionist Jewish financiers. His work explores how claims of economic neutrality by PEC leaders intersected with Jewish philanthropy, global capitalism, and scientific progress, ultimately influencing nationalist projects in Palestine. His research areas span 20th-century American capitalism, colonialisms, Zionism, Israel/Palestine, and Middle Eastern history.
